What it lets you do : 

• stay in Australia permanently

• sponsor your relatives to come to Australia

• if eligible, become an Australian citizen

• work and study in Australia

• enrol in Australia's public health care scheme - 'Medicare'

• travel to and from Australia for 5 years

Eligibility

• be outside Australia when you apply

• be sponsored by your relative or relative's partner

• must be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia

• must have been dependent on your relative in Australia for basic needs like food, shelter and clothing for at least 3 years before you apply

• must have no partner

• able to obtain an assurance of support

• meet the health requirement

• meet the character requirement

CARER

Cost: From AUD3,945 Govt. Fees [plus consultation fees]

What it lets you do : 

• lets you come to or stay in Australia to provide care to someone with a long-term medical condition who does not have reasonable access to care options in Australia

• stay in Australia permanently

• sponsor your relatives to come to Australia

• if eligible, become an Australian citizen

• work and study in Australia

• enrol in Australia's public health care scheme - 'Medicare'

• travel to and from Australia for 5 years

Eligibility

• provide care for a relative, or a member of their family who lives with them, who has no reasonable access to care options in Australia

• be outside Australia when you apply

• be sponsored by your relative or relative's partner for the first 2 years in Australia

you must be willing and able to provide ongoing substantial care and support

• meet the health requirement

• meet the character requirement

REMAINING RELATIVE

What it lets you do :

• be a remaining relative of an Australian citizen or Permanent resident or an Eligible New Zealand citizen

• be sponsored by your relative or relative's partner

• able to obtain an assurance of support

• meet the health requirement

• meet the character requirement
