Eligibility
- be outside Australia when you apply
- be sponsored by your relative or relative’s partner
- must be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
- must have been dependent on your relative in Australia for basic needs like food, shelter and clothing for at least 3 years before you apply
- must have no partner
- able to obtain an assurance of support
- meet the health requirement
- meet the character requirement

What it lets you do :
- lets you come to or stay in Australia to provide care to someone with a long-term medical condition who does not have reasonable access to care options in Australia
- stay in Australia permanently
- sponsor your relatives to come to Australia
- if eligible, become an Australian citizen
- work and study in Australia
- enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme – ‘Medicare’
- travel to and from Australia for 5 years
Eligibility
- provide care for a relative, or a member of their family who lives with them, who has no reasonable access to care options in Australia
- be outside Australia when you apply
- be sponsored by your relative or relative’s partner for the first 2 years in Australia
you must be willing and able to provide ongoing substantial care and support
- meet the health requirement
- meet the character requirement
